Thanks for sharing your research!
It's nice to be able to match the mix numbers to the filenames.
Seeing the archive of the site from 20 years ago brought back some memories.
If you're missing any of the files I listed above let me know and I'll happily share them again.

Alrighty. Seeing the interest....

I sorted some stuff, added some more to the collection from another folder. Uploaded the first batch of 395 rm's to Mega here, do mind two Paul Anderson files have tags DHP XXX which I suppose I've downloaded but forgot to enter the upload number so I left it like that through the years.

Massive thanks go to the Deep crew and the guys who provided those tape rips themselves to preserve the magic. It feels like yesterday, listened thru Levan's Paradise Garage ones already. Bangers!

Will upload the rest in the coming days. Enjoy. One house luv!
Sir, thank you for sharing these mixes, it's an absolute goldmine. I was searching for those mr fingers music mixes as i had 2 of them from back when they were originally put up on DHP. Again, thanks for doing this 👍

Hi!

Does anybody have an alternative link to the database? Since yesterday it seems completely empty - would be very very much appreciated.

So I was sorting through one of my old hard drives the other day looking for something completely different to be honest. To my surprise I bumped on a folder... 500+ mixes inside in both Real Media and MP3 formats from the likes of Knuckles, Levan, Humphries, Regisford, Vega, etc, all named wherever possible, downloaded from DHP when it was still working. Some of them I suppose aren't found on the internet anymore so I may end up uploading them someplace like Mediafire, wondering if anyone is interested in that (I'll still upload em to my personal cloud for achival reasons)?
I would LOVE THEM!!!

Sorry I'm late to the party, tried looking for your files in Mega but it days the folder is empty. Are you able to repost. I used to love deep house pages and missed out downloading as much as I could.

Back in the day I actually downloaded most of the mixes listed on the web server at deephouse.biostat.wisc.edu which also doubled as a file repository.
The files were served from 3 servers in total. The web server itself and two more ftp servers jukar.biostat.wisc.edu and rose.biostat.wisc.edu.

If you go to archive.org you can see the old pages from deephouse.biostat.wisc.edu, where it all started and gman wrote Deejay, Title, Date (if known) and a sometimes very long descriptions of the mixtape. He continued to do so up to about #580, then he stopped doing that and you only saw Deejay, Title, and Date (if known). Most dates are in the format of mm/yy or mm-dd-yy, mm-dd-yyyy. Some filenames have the year and month too.

A week ago I went to my basement to check up on my CD-R disc backups. And on disc 695-714 are 13.5 GB of DeepHousePage material.
Now the way I downloaded back then was not through the interface on the webserver, so I have discs covering each ftp server, without descriptions, just the files.
And get this. There were more files on the ftp servers than was linked to on the webpage of DeepHousePage.
I estimate I have about 2,3GB files extra - mixes that gman did not intend for us to click on and listen too, or he did not get around to it.

Doing webarcheology using archive.org which has the pages with information and links to the music, which do not work, I have loads of files from my old backup to match to the filenames in the web server links.
And it seems I am pretty well covered from early mixes to about #735. After that it gets spotty.

History of DeepHousePage - with apologies to people who know better, this is what I can reconstruct looking back from my chair in my kitchen in Denmark.
Some time in the 1990s gman opens up his tape exchanging as a web server, There are a few layout differences over the years, in the beginning he posted 50 mixes at a time on a page. Then later #151 - #303 on a 4th page. And later an even longer list going up to #589.
In late 2000 he advertises clicking on a link to www.DeepHousePage.com and from then until about 2008 that is where it is at.
From 2008 to 2015 everything moves again to www.dhpmixes.com which retains some links pointing to older servers or maybe folders of respective servers.
From 2015 there is no more.
Archive.org does not have the mixes per se. So it is definately not a point and click adventure going to Archive.org, but I recommend it if you're bored and want to read up on the mixes. Especially the oldest before #589 are a real treat, almost as if gman is talking to you.

I have matched files against links and as per 2015 last time Archive.org crawled the site, there were 59 mixes either "removed" or simply not listed - if my memory is correct mix #154 should be listed between #153 and #155 but the #154 mix is not mentioned at all.
I sigured with some luck the 59 mixes may have been up o nthe page for some time before gman took them offline. And indeed going back and fourth on the stored pages I found information about 18-20 mixes, so we know what should be there *and their filenames*.
And to my amazement I have 10 or so "removed" mixes on my disk right now.

Is there any interest in piecing together all we can from DeepHousePage and make a collection of both webserver information as well as all the files (not the streams) I can imagine m4a or mp3 to be more well accepted.
In case you wonder - I have not converted my files as VLC seems to serve them up with pleasure.
This is my source for research on the old site and its evolution itself:

My backup CD-R 695 also holds the remainder of a backup of GottaHaveHouse.com, which means I have 4,5 CD-R with GottaHaveHouse.com files, but that is a story for another day - I have not researched the files but they do carry more meaningful filenames. And there are good mixes in there too.

Sorry for the long post. I have attached a view of 808 files - it is a work in progress.

Could either of you re-upload these mixes to archive.org or somewhere else?

All links are dead, these mixes need to be preserved

You need to grow up,lad, ffs! Music is for sharing ! Sort ya boggle out...
Henry's observation is correct and it's something that has blighted this community from the very beginning although it is good that the original poster has subsequently shared their efforts of what they are doing over on the internet archive. That's more than most people do.

Don't get me wrong, I agree with him,its just the way he talks to people i cant abide! Someone sent me here a few years back for "loads of Tony De Vit sets, all free..! I was like I'll have some of that, please and thank you,and I asked for a link and he bit me head off, saying I'd not shared anything... But ya see no one told me that's what needed doing i was new to forums, and I didnt Appreciate being spoken to like that, tbh there was & is no need to talk to people like that!!

Ok, so I read your posts this morning @Mac The Ripper 🍴, but had to deal with some difficult family stuff today so held back with my response, giving me the day to think about them, and get my head around your verbal attack.

Firstly, wow, you REALLY don't like me do you? I would suggest that you use the 'Ignore' function on my user profile. That way you won't be able to see my posts or see me talking to "everyone" on the forum like "filth". That would make the most sense, as you say you have "no time for people" like me:

1760200979858.png

Secondly, I think you have totally over reacted. Your ranting states that I speak to "everyone" like shit. Do I? Maybe read through all my posts where I have interacted with all the regulars over the years; thanking people for taking the time to share stuff, praising people for their efforts, having banter, helping with IDs etc etc. Is that someone that talks to "everyone" like they're "filth"? A few times a year I might be critical to people of people that just rock up asking for stuff, without having contributed or posted previously, and I'll address that shortly. I'd love to hear what all the regulars who I've built really good relationships with on here over the past 15 years think. Most of my interaction with them is done through the private messages. I could probably count about 20 people on here that I consider to have excellent relationships with, most that go back over a decade. I imagine if I "talked down" to them and spoke to them "like they are filth", they'd have stopped interacting with me a long time ago surely?

"Ignore him he does it to everyone!!" Who's "everyone"? You mean the occasional people that sign up just to do what I talked about above? That's sure as fuck isn't "everyone", is it?

Thirdly, your posts make it look like you have a chip on your shoulder. But I might me wrong of course, as I don't actually know you, and you don't know me. The way people come across on forums and social media doesn't always give a picture of what a person is really like in the flesh - plus depending on people moods and frame of mind, they can interpret posts in different ways at different times. For example when I read your posts about me this morning I was in a very low mood and hadn't slept well as I'm currently going through a fair bit - my first thought was to kick off. But I didn't. The bottom line is you don't know me, or anything about me so please don't make me out to be a c**t.

Fourthly, my intentions have always been for the best of the forum. I am passionate about protecting it, keeping the vibe alive and things moving, especially after seeing two other forums that I was heavily involved with, die and close down, due to social media, Facebook, Youtube, MixCloud, SoundCloud etc etc becoming more prominent. So, if I come across as being defensive, protective and out spoken about my views relating to the forum, then that's why. If we all came on here to just take, take, take then there would be NO forum.

"Music is for sharing" - no shit! I've been sharing music online for two decades, and continue to do so. I just think it's important that anyone taking music from forums needs to give back to community in some way; either by participating and getting involved in the chat, helping with IDs, making posts or even sharing mixes etc.

I've had run ins with a couple of folk before on forums over the years, and I'm sure as hell not prepared to go through that shit again, so I'd suggest you click that 'Ignore' button, and I can do the same for you.

I expect you'll say that you don't like the way or tone I've responded in this post now - probably that I'm "talking down" to you. How the fuck did you expect me to react after all of your posts above?

This is a long reply - but I'm afraid I'm not one to sit back and not defend myself or how I feel after being publicly hung out to dry on a forum that's like a second home to me.

As I say, just click that 'Ignore' button fella and you won't have to put up with me. (y)

Ya nothing but a bully and I love bully's! I love it when they make out that everyone wanting a free tape is a piece of 💩 for asking, when they dont know that they have to share something to get something in return! You are just a wanker and ill tell ya what,ya know when ya "found" me on FB,look me up again and we sort something out MACKY MCMAHON! I'll wait! Big man

Awwww low mood?? Yea we all get that, imagine coming on here wanting some music, and you ya cunt have a go?? As I say, watch ya fkn back!
